Ermelo Regional Court sentences offenders

The following sentences were passed in the Ermelo Regional Court recently.

Bartle Wilhelm Buys (39) was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on 28 October after being found guilty on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The offences were committed last year.

Nhlanhla Selby Ncongwane (25) was found guilty on 30 October and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment for being in possession of stolen goods. The offence was committed in May this year.

On 1 November, Mphikeleli Willem Mavuso (23) was found guilty on a charge of housebreaking and theft and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment. The offence was committed on 6 June this year.

Hlubi Queen Mavimbela (30) was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on 8 November after being found guilty of sexually exploiting children during 2012. The court ordered that Mavimbela’s name be entered in the national register for sexual offenders.

On 11 November Thomas Sfiso Mhlanga (33) was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of a murder he committed on 14 October last year.

In all the above cases the offenders were declared unfit to possess firearms.
