Shushu wants to be on top
He said he has his eyes on the prize of becoming the best kwaito artist in the country.
eMZINONI – Local kwaito star Bongani Ngwenya (30), better known as Shushu, is known for his pointed lyrical verses and energising moves.
The unsigned Shushu is back with a bang with his new album titled Touch is a Move.
It consists of 12 kwaito tracks characterised by motivated compositions and complex beats, with Thulani (Thulibathi) Masango from Kwandebele as the main producer from Gcwala Madala Productions.
Each track carries sounds that will bring the masses to the dance floor, but one thing that seems to work for Shushu is his ability to offer great lyrical content for his target market.
The album is a mixture of dance kwaito and “kwaai-hop” sounds to entice a variety of music enthusiasts, a move that is according to him very necessary in his endeavour to take over the kwaito “game”.
His first single “Ubuzizizi” is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.
He features with the GMP Crew on a number of tracks.
People who buy his CD should lend a special ear to hit tracks such as “Sthandwa Sami”, “Skelm Sothekeni” and “Under Arrest”.
Shushu released his first professional album in 2010 titled Umgqala Kasheleni.
He is also not new in the music industry as he has rubbed shoulders with music giants such as Professor, Dr Malinga, Pro, Bricks and DJ Black Coffee.
“If it were not for God, my family and friends, fans and everyone who made contributions to my career as a musician, it would not have been possible to live out my passion.
“I am an independent artist, but that does not hold me back because anything is possible when you believe in what you are doing.”
Shushu said that he has his eyes on the prize of being the best kwaito artist in the country.
