Join Run for a Purpose against period poverty in Bethal

Participants are encouraged to arrive at 07:00, with the 4.9km race starting at 08:00.

Miss Mpumalanga, Masibulele Mndebele, is inviting the public to join her Run for a Purpose movement against period poverty on August 29 at Bethal Regional Park, Ethendeni Labantu.

The initiative is close to Mndebele’s heart because she believes that no girl should have to miss school or lose confidence simply because she cannot afford sanitary pads.

The goal of the fundraising event is to donate 12 boxes of sanitary pads to each girl, providing a year’s supply so that they can focus on their education without the burden of period poverty.

Participants are encouraged to arrive at 07:00, with the 4.9km race starting at 08:00.

Adults aged 18 years and older are asked to contribute R50 in the form of a sanitary pad donation, while children under 18 may participate free of charge.

Mndebele said that everyone is welcome to take part, whether they choose to run, walk or simply support the event from the sidelines.

“Every contribution will help restore dignity, keep girls in school and create a brighter future for many young girls,” said Mndebele.

In addition to the race, participants will enjoy a free aerobics session after the event.

“Together, we can make a lasting difference. Let’s run with purpose,” said Mndebele.
