Lawbreakers sentenced

Sentences were passed in the Ermelo District and Regional courts recently.

The following sentences were passed in the Ermelo District and Regional courts recently.

Katjan Delani Lukhele (30) was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by the District Court on 13 November after being found guilty of stock theft.

The offence was committed in June last year.

On 18 November in the same court, Zama Madonsela (21) received a 12-month sentence for housebreaking with intent to steal and theft. During his imprisonment he may be placed under correctional supervision at the discretion of the commissioner of the parole board.

The offence was committed in September this year.

In the Ermelo Regional Court, 26-year-old Mbhekeni Patrick Sibande was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment on 15 November after he was found guilty of a murder he committed in September lat year. Sibande was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
