Girls should get vaccinated

SECUNDA – The Department of Health will host a human papillonma virus vaccination campaign and invited all Grade 4 girls in public schools who are nine years old and older to get their vaccinations to prevent cervical cancer.
According to the department the primary objective of these vaccinations are to prevent cervical cancer caused by the human papilloma virus.
The department aims at reducing the number of women who die of cervical cancer.
The first round of the campaign will be from 10 March to 11 April and doses of the vaccination will be provided to government primary schools and public primary schools.
In the second round of the campaign, vaccinations will be provided to primary schools from 29 September to 31 October.
In order to benefit from this program, a consent form signed by one of the pupil’s parents or caregivers has to be provided.
Schools will distribute these consent forms before the campaign begins.
