Farmer escapes with his live
Thugs shoot at farmer in attempt to rob him from wages.

A farmer had a terrible encounter recently after thugs tried to rob and shoot him.
Mr Bennie du Preez, a farmer outside Perdekop, travelled to Standerton for wages for the farm workers.
He phoned in advance to pick the money up at the bank, but as he arrived there, he had to wait.
The bank manager offered to help him and he was on his way soon.
Mr Du Preez’s wife was at a restaurant at the Junxion Centre, waiting for him.
She ordered coffee in the meanwhile.
According to Mr Du Preez nothing was out of the ordinary as he travelled from the bank to the centre.
When he stopped and got out of his bakkie to join his wife, he noticed that the bakkie did not want to lock with the remote.
A man approached him and said that he had dropped something, pointing to the ground.
Mr Du Preez did not suspect anything wrong at this stage.
While he tried to lock it manually, the passenger side’s door flew open and an unknown man grabbed the bag of money, the money he withdrew moments ago.
“I am almost sure they had that tool that interfere with the signals of the remote control of the bakkie,” Mr Du Preez said.
According to Mr Du Preez, he made his way around the bakkie and as the thief tried to flee, his foot got stuck and he fell.
Mr Du Preez ran just behind him and when the thug fell to the ground he threw the bag of money away.
It is suspected that he wanted to throw it to his partner in crime, but Mr Du Preez caught the bag instead.
While all of this was happening the robber, sitting in the getaway car, opened fire on Mr Du Preez, luckily nothing hit him.
The three assailants got away in the vehicle that was supposedly the getaway car.
According to Mr du Preez the Standerton Police were quick on the scene and helped him.
He thanked them for their assistance and sympathy, even escorting him from Standerton to Perdekop to make sure he and his wife were safe.
“The shock of something like this stays with a person,” Mr Du Preez said.
He also said the police were remarkable and he will always be grateful to them.
