EVANDER – A security guard suffered serious injuries after three men had fired shots at him at the Evander Gold Mine.
It is alleged the security guard suspected the men of being criminals and when he approached them, they began shooting.
They hijacked a Mercedes Benz which they used to escape.
Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, spokesman for the Evander Police Station, said the police arrested one suspect at the scene and are looking for the other two.
“These men are dangerous, one is wanted for several crimes.
“We are following up the leads to arrest the suspects and we ask residents to help us and to report people who they suspect.”
The police later recovered the stolen vehicle at eMbalenhle.
