Evander is turning into a dump
The CBD, which was once the pride of the town, is in a shambles.
EVANDER – Residents of Evander have been complaining for weeks about the state of the town and said they have tried to contact the municipality who said they would investigate, but to no avail.
People are dumping their household and building rubble in Green Street near Caltex garage.
The local stream is stinking, because of sewage spills in Lunde Road.
“The Govan Mbeki municipality has employed people to take steps for the town’s maintenance, but the problem is not being addressed,” said Mr TL Mlotshwa, DA councillor.
Mr Henry Masango, head of Marketing and Communications of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, did not comment at the time going to press.
