Joe Gqabi Lapa now operational
Govan Mbeki Municipality receives new lapa from Sonland Development.
EVANDER – Mr Johan Rosslee, director of Sonland Development, officially handed over a newly built lapa to the Govan Mbeki Municipality on Wednesday, 3 December.
It was built by Sonland Development (Mpumalanga) as part of the expertise agreement between the Govan Municipality and Sonland Development.
Mr Rosslee said when the development bought the land on which the Wilge Lapa in Secunda was situated, they agreed that they would build a lapa for the municipality.
The new facility was erected on the site that accommodated the former Evander Lapa that was destroyed in a fire a few years ago.
The new lapa is called the Joe Gqabi Lapa.
Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, requested the residents to look after the facility.
