Rubbish skipped over festive season

Residents in Handel and Berg Street were frustrated over the festive season due to the skips in the street not being emptied.

Residents in Handel and Berg Street were frustrated over the festive season due to the skips in the streets not being emptied.

The rubbish was overflowing and being blown all over by the wind.

“I contacted the Lekwa Municipality before Christmas about the issue and could not get to the appropriate department,” a concerned resident said.

“My neighbour also phoned the municipality and was told that the skips would be emptied.”

The skips were still not emptied by 5 January and the refuse was still scattered all over the place.

The Standerton Advertiser contacted the municipality on 9 January.

The municipality said that there was no problem and the skips had been emptied.
