SACP and Sanco members face disciplinary committee

The ANC has handed one SACP member and two Sanco members letters of notice following alleged misconduct.

The Sanco members who received the letters are Messrs Dumisani Nkonde and Nicholas Selepe, while the SACP member is Sayitsheni Tsotetsi.

Mr Madoda Sigasa from the SACP received a phone call notifying him about the letter as well, but he did not receive it.

According to Mr Selepe he did not attend the disciplinary hearing because of personal reasons.

The charges stated in the letter he received are:

First charge

• Gross negligence- intentionally incited the members of the community to act against the ANC on 8 October.

• Alternative charge- intentionally incited the members of the community not to respect the provincial leaders of the ANC.

Second charge

• Gross negligence- bringing the ANC in disrepute.

Intentionally incited the members of the community not to recognise the elected leaders of the provincial leaders and approaching Mr Gwede Mantashe’s office.

• Alternative charge- intentionally incited the members of the community to regard the provincial leadership as untrustworthy.

Third charge

• Gross negligence- bringing the ANC into disrepute.

Failed to follow the processes of airing their grievances.

According to Mr Joshua Nkosi, ANC Gert Sibande regional secretary, the disciplinary committee is conducting the hearings.

“They will give recommendations to the regional executive committee after conducting all the disciplinary hearings,” he said.

He said the regional executive committee will then make decisions after the recommendations.

Mr Tsotetsi said he attended the hearing and told them the march was for the community.

“The people who burnt down buildings during the protests in 2009 were not called to attend disciplinary hearings,” he also said.

“They were later elected as councillors.”

Messrs Sigasa did not want to comment and Nkonde could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
