Residents invited to caucus
Chief whip of the ANC, Mr Anthony Makhaye, invite you to a community engagement meeting.
LEBOHANG – The ANC’s flagship Taking Caucus to the People programme in the Govan Mbeki Municipality is taking place in Leandra and Lebohang on Monday, 2 February.
This is the second programme in Ward 1 in Leandra.
The programme will be led by the chief whip of Council, Mr Anthony Makhaye, the executive mayor Ms Lindi Masina, the speaker, Mr Cyril Gwiji, and members of the Mayoral Committee.
The programme will be attended by all ANC councillors and the MPLs and MPs.
This is to ensure the synchronisation of the work of MPs, MPLs and councillors within the municipality in enhancing the ANC’s capacity to perform oversight and monitoring over the municipality to ensure that it delivers on its mandate.
The programme will begin in Lebohang on 2 February.
It is aimed at highlighting the developmental projects that are taking place in the area, engaging with local structures on issues of service delivery and maintaining close contact between councillors and the people for the purpose of enhancing public participation.
Mr Mfundo Maseko, spokesman for the ANC, said this is important given that ANC councillors represent the interests of the municipality.
“The programme is also aimed at providing a platform for public consideration of issues affecting the wards of the municipality.
“Will engage in public hearing on issues ranging from electricity, water and sanitation, roads and storm water and human settlements.
“Issues emanating from this oversight programme will be referred to the relevant members of the Mayoral Committee for follow up and implementation.”
