BETHAL – Residents are complaining about Bethal Dam and is concerned about next year’s election which will be held there.
The Dam Hall has been vandalised and broken down.
The roofs are hanging on strings and soaked with water.
All the windows and doors are broken.
Children and adults are swimming at their own risk there without a life guard present.
Used condoms, rotten food, glass bottles, rubbish, cigarettes and used sanitary pads are everywhere.
Toilets and mirrors are broken.
“The place is a mess and a safety risk for residents,” said Mr Hannes van Baalen, DA-councillor.
“Is there money to fix the place and will it be fixed before next year’s election?”
According to people on social networks, the dam was once a place where they danced and spent time with family and friends.
Mr Henry Masango, communications officer of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, did not comment by the time of going to press.
