Sewage problems seem to increase

Residents do not know what to do anymore.

SECUNDA – Residents living near the open field between Hoërskool Oosterland and Outeniqua Street are frustrated because people illegally dump their rubbish in the field.

They contacted the municipality to complain, but nothing has been done.

One of the residents reckoned people are too scared to go to the local dumping site as it is not safe there and that is why they are dumping their rubbish in the field.

Rubbish is not the only problem, the sewage is also flowing into the stream in this open field.

This problem has been reported to the municipality as well, but to no avail.

Residents in Jansen Street in Trichardt also complained about sewage leakages and contacted the municipality several times, but without any success.

“Every time we call them, they say they will come out and investigate, but they never show up,” said the resident.

The Echo and Ridge Times asked the head of Marketing and Communications, Mr Henry Masango, for comment, but he did not respond at the time of going to print.
