Police recover stolen car
Two men to appear in the Evander Magistrates' Court for hijacking of a mini-bus.

eMBALENHLE – Police and the Mpumalanga Tactical Response Team arrested two men (23 and 38) and recovered a hijacked VW Crafter recently.
The arrest came after the mini-bus was hijacked in the early hours of 9 January.
It is alleged that the 41-year-old taxi driver reported for duty at about 5am when the men pointed a fire arm at him and ordered him to get into the mini-bus.
The taxi driver however managed to escape.
The men fired shots at him and he was hit in the shoulder.
An ambulance was summonsed and he was taken to the Evander Hospital.
The police established that the hijacked mini-bus was taken to Tsakane.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the men.
One is a taxi owner.
A firearm that is believed to have been used on the day of the hijacking, was also recovered.
The recovered mini-bus was found next to one of the local schools and it was established that it was used to transport pupils.
The police further seized a Navara double cab that is also believed to have been used to transport the suspects on the day of the hijacking.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, applauded the police for the arrests and recovery of the hijacked vehicle.
“We make sure that our township is not a hub for robbers and criminals and that law enforcement is enhanced in the area,” he said.
The men will appear in the Evander Magistrates’ Court.
