Motorcycle stolen at Sasol

Sasol says it was an isolated incident.

SECUNDA – A blue Yamaha YZF 1000 Thunderace was stolen from the Sasol premises at the east gate parking area on Tuesday, 3 February.

The owner of the bike, Mr Johan Theron, said he parked his bike there at 8.26am and when he got off from work at 4.21pm, realised it was stolen.

He reported it to the security at the gate who advised him to open a case with the police.

The value of the motorcycle is between R40 000 and R45 000.

Mr Theron wanted to know how it is possible that a motorcycle can get stolen at Sasol.

According to him the security officers did not have any answers for him and also could not help him with video footage.

Ms Marcia Binder from Sasol’s communications department, said: “The theft of the motorcycle on 3 February in the Sasol Secunda complex was an isolated incident.

“The motorcycle was parked in a parking area outside the primary security area.

“There is a high influx of people entering the plant on a daily basis and closed circuit television systems are utilised to monitor specific key areas in the factory.

“The Sasol Secunda Security Services are collaborating with the police to help with the investigation.”
