Robbers escape without trace
eMbalenhle police urge residents to help find suspects.
eMBALENHLE – A Somali business owner sustained injuries after he was shot in the foot during a robbery at his shop in Extension 14.
The robbers stole an undisclosed amount of money, airtime vouchers and cigarettes.
Residents called the police and together they chased the suspects.
The men fled and later abandoned their get-away car.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said after they had abandoned the car, they met contractors working in the area and pointed a gun at one of them and demanded car keys.
“They were disrupted by the police siren and did not steal the car.
“Cases of business robbery, attempted murder and hijacking have been opened against them.
“No arrest has been made yet and the police are investigating.”
