Man arrested for rape and house robbery
Rape victim helps police in arrest of suspect.
eMZINONI – A 21- year-old man was arrested for house robbery and rape.
The victim and her friends were returning from Secunda at about 1am and when they entered her house, the suspect was waiting for them.
He threatened them with a knife and demanded their cell phones.
He then allegedly raped the 20-year-old woman in front of her friends and fled.
According to the police one of the women had a phone which she did not give to the suspect and called the police.
Const Cynthia Mtshweni, police spokesman, said the victim described the rapist and he was arrested.
Capt Abel Mahlangu, station commander, applauded the police for responding to the scene quickly which resulted in the arrest.
