Squatters now live next to dumping site
Go to the dumping site during the day, not at night.
SECUNDA – The local rubbish dump is finally clean and squatter free after the police and the Red Ants had removed all the illegal squatters from there on Thursday, 12 February.
The police organised a truck to take them to eMbalenhle on the day they were removed, but some of them returned to the dumping site.
According to residents, some squatters still hang around at the railway tracks near the dumping site.
They also said the squatters now stop people before they get to the dumping site and tell them to dump their rubbish next to the road.
DA councillor Mr Tim Denny urged residents to drive past the squatters all the way to the rubbish dump and to dump their rubbish there.
He thanked the police, the Red Ants, the Ikusasa Project and Servest Security for removing the squatters and making the dumping site safe for the public again.
Security guards are now patrolling the dumping site to ensure the squatters cannot get inside.
Mr Denny said people must not go to the dumping site at night, because he heard the squatters are now sitting at the T junction at the road leading to the dumping site at night.
