Sergeant working at the Secunda Police Station commits suicide.

eMBALENHLE – A 37-year-old police officer killed his 35-year-old wife, then himself in Extension 12 Tuesday, 3 February night.

He was working at the Secunda Police Station and the names were not released as the next of kin have not yet been informed.

Capt Leonard Hlathi, provincial police spokesman, said the deceased police officer was at work on Tuesday and when he went home, everything seemed fine.

He said they were shocked when they received the news at about 11pm that the couple’s bodies were found in the main bedroom.

Lt Gen Mark Magadlela, Mpumalanga Police Commisioner, sent his condolence to the families.

He disapprove the action taken by the police officer and said in the police force there are human resource offices available who are well equipped to help employees who face problems, including marriage related problems.

“We have a well established and functional office, the employment health and wellness department, which has highly trained psychologists and pastors to help our members.

“The office is always open and I advise members to make use of it.”
