TRICHARDT – The local police arrested two men on 28 February at a local tavern for allegedly pointing firearms at people.
A man informed the police that two men with firearms were at the Hoekpalace Tavern where they allegedly threatened people.
No one was injured.
One of the men fled the scene before the police arrived.
Police officials went to his flat, but he denied any involvement.
The police search his flat and found the firearm under his mattress.
He was arrested immediately for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The man who helped the suspect flee the tavern, was also arrested.
They appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on 3 March and the case was postponed.
