eMba Police recover illegal firearm on accident scene
Police are concerned about the circulation of illegal firearms in the area.
eMBALENHLE – Police recovered a stolen firearm with seven rounds of ammunition from a car accident victim.
Upon further investigation they discovered that the firearm was reported stolen in Welkom.
The suspect was admitted to the Evander Hospital and he is under police guard.
He sustained injuries after the car he was travelling in, overturned on the Evander and Standerton road.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said the police are concerned about the circulation of illegal firearms in the area.
“We are not sure where the suspect was going to when the accident occurred.
“A team of investigating officers are still investigating.”
