Water flows into eMba homes

Extension 18 residents are fustrated with the water from drains that is flowing into their homes.

eMBALENHLE – Water from a drain and a trench flows into people’s homes in Extension 18 and has already damaged furniture and is causing diseases.

Residents said they have lost count of how many times they have reported the matter to the local councillor.

“He did not want to go inside the houses, because he said his shoes were going to become wet.

“He told us to put soil around the areas to prevent the water from flowing into their homes.

“We did that, but it did not help either.”

They said at times sewage from overflowing drains opposite their homes also flows to their homes.

According to the residents, this has damaged their relations with their neighbours.

Mr Henry Masango, head of communication and marketing, said the municipality will follow up on the matter.
