Govan Mbeki Municipality teaches pupils about waste water
The Govan Mbeki Municipality’s technical services took part in the National Water Week by teaching pupils about water.
eMBALENHLE – The Govan Mbeki Municipality’s technical services, Wastewater Treatment Works’ Section, conducted an educational awareness campaign at local schools in the municipal area as part of National Water Week.
The campaign was aimed at demonstrating wastewater treatment and educating pupils about what should not be in the sewer system.
Ms Sithembile Makhombothi, wastewater treatment works manager, said the department wanted to enlighten pupils on the health hazards associated with wastewater.
“We are also assisting the municipality to reduce sewer spillages and blockages by equipping pupils with the necessary information.”
Shapeve Primary School in eMbalenhle, Mpumelelo Primary School in Lebohang and Langelihle Primary School in eMzinoni were among the schools visited.
