BETHAL – Theft out of vehicles in parking areas is increasing at an alarming rate.
Criminals are stealing valuable items such as Ipads, tablets, money, firearms and laptops out of parked cars.
The police arrested a man (34) for being in possession of car-breaking tools and is in police custody.
“We would like to warn and send a clear message to criminals planning to steal other people’s valuable goods and think that they will get away with it,” said Const Thomas Mogadime, communications officer.
“The police are not on holiday and we will monitor every street in order to catch you.
“We are tired of criminals coming to Bethal from other areas who think they will succeed in creating an unsafe environment.
“Be warned and know that we will be watching you,” said Const Mogadime.
He urged people not to keep valuables such as handbags, cell phones and shopping parcels inside their vehicles.
“It is a temptation for any criminal.”
Put anything that might tempt someone to break into your vehicle, out of sight.
“Let us unite in the fight against crime,” he said
