Competitors enjoy rally
Along the route the Cosmos flowers gave a stunning show and cheered up the normally bland countryside.
BETHAL – After weeks of preparation the big day has finally arrived as he South African Regularity Rally Association gathered dor the beginning of the Italian Time Trial that was hosted by the Alfa and Fiat Clubs.
When participants arrived at the Portuguese Club in Emalahleni (Witbank), the skies have cleared and the sun was shining.
Documentation and scrutinising went off without a hitch and the competitors turned their attention to the scrumptious breakfast that was sponsored by Mr Mike Cabeleira.
With full bellies and tanks, competitors lined up for the beginning of the 225km route and they were on their way to Bethal for the first re-fuel.
After a splash and dash they then headed for the second re-fuel in Delmas.
Along the route, the Cosmos flowers gave a stunning show and cheered up the normally bland countryside.
After Delmas they were on the home stretch to the finish at 4 Degrees East in Zesfontein for a greatly needed frostie or two and a superb lunch laid on by Chef Peedee, over which the tales of woe were deliberated, laughed and cried about.
At this stage the rally took on its new name, namely The Pot Hole Rally.
With the prize-giving done and dusted, the competitors hit the road and it was all over until the next time when they will return with renewed energy and more tales to share.
The group thanked the competitors, the blind crews, Grant Alexiou, Steward Ben can der Westhuizen, James Keulder, Nick Gouws, Mike Cabeleira and Joe Smith for their hard work and dedication.
