Sanco creates database of the unemployed
Sanco wants companies in Standerton to hire locals.
The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) collected CVs of all the unemployed people in Sakhile on 16 March.
They called on the unemployed to bring their CVs to the Sakhile Stadium.
Sanco wants to create a database of the unemployed in this community.
They will be classified according to their wards and the qualifications and skills they possess.
According to Mr Nicholas Selepe, Sanco Lekwa zonal convener, the database will assist if companies are looking for people to hire.
“The people, who will be registered on the database, do not need to pay for this service,” Mr Selepe said.
He also said they are looking to companies to fund this service and are also targeting learnerships and bursaries.
“We believe in empowering young people and if there are opportunities for them to further their studies, they should be able to access them.”
According to Sanco the database will also help to manage the proof of residency.
“When there are vacancies in Standerton people from other towns apply using local proof of residency,” Mr Selepe concluded.
“With the data we will be able to trace if a person has provided us with the correct information or not.”
