SPCA dog chases thieves away

David and big dog are heroes.

EVANDER – Mr David Malinga, kennel keeper at the Highveld Ridge SPCA, stopped thieves from stealing cattle there on Friday, 13 March.

According to Mr Malinga, a bakkie stopped outside the SPCA at 7pm and about five men got off and walked in the direction of Secunda.

However they were back at the SPCA at 10.15pm when Mr Malinga heard a loud noise and investigated.

“The animals were upset and the geese and the cattle were making noise,” said Mr Malinga.

He opened one of the big dogs and only later saw that the thieves had made a big hole in the fence..

The dog chased the five men away before they could steal anything.

The senior inspector at the SPCA, Ms Jenneth Geel, think they wanted to steal the cattle.

Mr Malinga informed Ms Geel who contacted the security company.

They secured the area.

The SPCA now needs money to fix the fencing.

Businesses already donated security lights and they thanked them.
