The stench at Standerton’s dumping site has become unbearable for the residents.
According to the DA the pollution could pose a health risk for those living close to the site.
They have written a number of letters since 2011 to the Lekwa Municipality asking them to cover the burning waste to seal the smell.
A nearby school has reported this matter to the municipality as well.
Their letter indicated that pupils complained of headaches and they were concerned that this might cause respiratory and other lung diseases later in life.
