General workers demand payment for overtime

General workers demand the Lekwa Municipality pay them for the overtime they worked.

Lekwa Municipality general workers stopped working on 30 April, claiming that they have not been paid for overtime.

According to them the municipality told them they do not have money to pay them.

The municipal employees from different department embarked on a go-slow because of the situation.

Some residents did not get assistance from the municipality because they were told that general workers are not working.

The workers met with the municipal manager, Mr Linda Tshabalala, on 30 April.
