SECUNDA – Police have launched a manhunt for three men who shot dead the taxi driver, Mr Alfred Magagula, who was killed in his taxi between Secunda and eMbalenhle on Tuesday 12 May.
According to an eyewitness who was driving behind the taxi, he saw the taxi coming to a halt and then heard two gun shots.
The witness told the police he saw three men jumping from the same taxi who ran into a veld.
He investigated and saw the Mr Magagula was critically wounded and summoned medical assistance and the police.
Paramedics declared Mr Magagula dead on the scene.
Lt Bettina Zondo, police spokesman, said the cause of the killing is not known.
She said the killers did not take any personal belongings of Mr Magagula, such as his wallet and cash.
A case of murder has been opened.
