EVANDER – Various stakeholders from Govan Mbeki Municipality attended the launch of the African Community Dialogue (ACD) that is aimed at empowering the community to be self responsible and self reliance.
The main focus of the ACD is to contribute towards the elimination of poverty and to reduce inequality.
During the launch on Tuesday, 19 May Mr Nono Maseko, board member of the organisation, said they will be working with various stakeholders.
“It is our responsibility to stand up and work with the government and the business sectors to improve our own communities,” said Mr Maseko.
The ACD said they have trained “changing agents” who will be going out to facilitate dialogues between the communities and the leaders to promote the South African brand.
Mr Thokozani Mndawe, Govan Mbeki Senior Public Participation Officer, said they work with all the stakeholders within the municipality and support the campaign.
He further said they work with the ward councillors and have the mandate to work with all other stakeholders.
Ms Najiyane Mahlangu who was representing the churches, said they are willing to be working with the African Community Dialogue because the youth face many challenges.
The ACD will have road shows in eMbalenhle and at the Secunda Mall to create awareness about the organisation.
