Criminals target ATM users in Evander

Criminals are able to increase the daily limit.

The police are warning the community about ATM crimes.

Criminals stand in the queue as if they want to withdraw money, then they allow someone else in the queue to use the ATM first.

The card gets blocked inside the ATM and while the victim is trying to get help, the criminals get a chance to rob them.

The police said criminals are able to increase the daily limit.

Evander Police spokesman, Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, said the criminals are targeting senior citizens, especially white people.

During the past weekend a case was opened after someone was robbed of R12 000.

People should also refrain from asking strangers to help them when they are withdrawing money.

Sgt Mbuli said three cases have been opened at the Evander Police Station.
