Pupils excited to perform

Highveld Park High school hosted a cultural event on Saturday, 12 September.

SECUNDA – Highveld Park High school hosted a cultural event on Saturday, 12 September.

The programme consisted of performances by the Highveld Park High Gospel Band and the Glee Group, as well as a performance of Smile, Our Beloved Country, a showcase of talent that included poetry, drama, song and dance.

The title is a play on words of Alan Paton’s world-famous novel Cry the Beloved Country, and was compiled exclusively from the work of South African writers.

This 45 minute production showcased the multitude of talent of the pupils.

Their natural talent was evident from the audition phase and their enthusiasm spread fast.

The cast included Charity Madhlazi, Desiree Mhlanga, Ntokozo Vilakazi, Mbulelo, Mbokane, Nokwazi Hlatshwayo, Michael Masemola, Nthabiseng Lesaoana, Emah Masoga, Xoliswa Mqwati, Phetsile Zwane, Lerato Masusu, Lindy Kunene, Thandeka Nohashe and Nkosinathi Dibakwana.

The choreography was done by Ms Franzette Smit-Van Niekerk and Mr Donavan Stemmet and was compiled and directed by Ms Carmen Kershoff.
