New Year’s Eve is usually a difficult time for animals and animal lovers as they have to deal with the loud noises from the fireworks.
Over the years animals got lost and some sustained injuries during this time of the year.
This made many animal lovers angry, but they found ways of making sure that their friends are safe.
Most pet owners ensure that the animals are indoors, while the fireworks are set alight outside.
They also close the doors so that the animals do not run away when they hear the noise.
“We are very impressed with the community for taking care of the animals,” Ms Jenneth Geel, senior inspector at the SPCA, said.
According to her, they had three vehicles on standby on New Year’s Eve, but did not have to use any of them.
She said they did not receive any midnight calls from pet owners about animals in distress.
“There were no injured animals due to fireworks,” Ms Geel said.
She also said she believes that the awareness campaigns have paid off.
