Distribution boxes in shocking state

Does somebody have to be electrocuted before action is taken?

Iain Gilbert, Ermelo:
I am most disturbed and distressed to see the condition of some of the electrical distribution boxes in Ermelo. Some of them are in such a bad state that live connections are exposed.

This is an extremely dangerous situation, as anyone, including children, can receive a fatal electrical shock if they come in contact with these exposed conductors. Most of the boxes are not even locked, allowing unauthorized persons access to the units

It is definitely a contravention of safety regulations that these DBs are in such a terrible and dangerous state.

Private firms and mines will be taken to task and slapped with fines and foremen will face disciplinary action if electrical installations of this nature were allowed to deteriorate into such a state.

Why then is the municipality allowed to get away with blatant disregard for safety regulations?

What has to happen before the municipality gets its act together and rectifies the situation?

Does somebody have to be electrocuted before action is taken?
