VIDEO – Pupils demand answers after being shown the door
According to the angry pupils, they have nowhere else to go because all the other schools are full
Angry Khunjuliwe Secondary School Pupils went to Department of Education Circuit Offices to air their frustrations on 15 January.
According to them, they were told to look for other schools because they do not qualify to be in the Mathematics, Science and Technology Programme.
The school has been chosen to be a Mathematics, Science and Technology Academy as from this year.
This means the school will no longer offer subjects such as Mathematics Literacy, Geography, Business Studies, Economics, History and Tourism to pupils in the Further Education and Training (FET) level from Grade 10 to 12.
The Grade 10 pupils will begin with the programme this year.
However, the Grade 11 pupils will continue with the subjects they were doing until they complete their Grade 12 next year.
According to the pupils who do not qualify for the new programme, they have nowhere else to go because all the other schools are full.
They asked why the school gave them a stationery list, if they knew about the situation.
The pupils demanded that the Department of Education intervenes and solves this issue.
