Homeless move into abandoned house opposite police station

Lt Nhlabathi said they have chased people out before, but they return

Homeless people have made a house close to the Standerton Police Station their home without the owner’s permission.

According to the owner, he has tried to chase away all the people living on his premises, but they return after he leaves.

Some residents have raised concerns about them, saying they might be involved in criminal activities.

According to the owner, he is going to renovate the property soon.

Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police, said the owner told the same story last year, but no renovations were done.

Lt Nhlabathi also said they have chased people out before, but they return.

“If the property was abandoned, we will intervene and do something about it.”
