Woman sentenced after staging husband’s suicide

Tsotetsi was found guilty of killing her husband, Mr Bednock Sithathu, in February 2012

Portia Tsotetsi was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment on two counts of murder on 1 February.

She was sentenced in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, alongside her co-accused, Maveji Dube.

According to the Sakhile Police, she told them that her husband committed suicide by hanging himself.

They police later discovered that she murdered him and then hanged him to simulate a suicide.

The police said Tsotetsi was not alone when killing her husband.
