Taxi driver still in court

He faces nine counts of murder after 12 occupants died as a result of the accident, 11 on the scene and one more in the Standerton Hospital three days later

Mr Tsepang Matloung, the taxi driver who was charged with murder, fraud and reckless driving, appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 15 February.

The case was postponed to 11 March for sentencing.

He faces nine counts of murder after 12 occupants died as a result of the accident, 11 on the scene and one more in the Standerton Hospital three days later.

The accident occurred on the R23 Road between Standerton and Perdekop on 6 October 2014.

The driver apparently skipped a stop-and-go point and collided with an oncoming truck.
