The local police asked the community to assist in the fight against crime in the area.
Police spokesman, Capt Magonseni Nkosi, said all criminals are members of a certain family, wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, children or are related to members of the community who can assist in fighting crime directly or indirectly.
“The local police have a programme in place that will assist all those who are prepared to make their mark in the fight in a much more safer, professional and effective way.
“We therefore call on all citizens to visit the station and to speak to a police officer who they trust to be registered for the programme,” said Capt Nkosi.
The police said all information will be treated with a high level of confidentiality and people will not be expected to testify in court.
Capt Nkosi further said dedicated community members with positive information will be rewarded.
“It is a reality that crime affects us all directly or indirectly and the police and community must join forces, because together we will be able to win the war.
“People might have information about committed crimes or crimes that are about to be committed,” said Capt Nkosi.
