The Sakhile Police have five new recruits who will be trained as police officers.
This comes after an outcry from the community about the shortage of officers when calling for assistance.
According to Sgt George Dhlamini, communications officer of the Sakhile Police, they will be trained for eight months.
They will spend a month at the Sakhile Police Station before going for a six months training period.
They will then spend their last month of training at the station.
The recruits are Ms Kgaugelo Zimu, Ms Buyisiwe Radebe, Mr Art Hadebe, Mr Teboho Tsotetsi and Mr Lebogang Motepe. “We are happy to have them because there was a need to beef up human resources at the station,” Sgt Dhlamini said. According to him, this means they will be able to do all their duties.
“Their arrival is an assurance that we will do more.”
Sgt Dhlamini also said the deployment within the police is subdivided into different sectors and each sector has a vehicle assigned to it.
“However, some of these sectors were non-functional because of the shortage of human resources, but with the arrival of the new recruits, it will be a thing of the past”.
