Following the Vukanini Taxi Association march this morning, two suspects aged 34 and 31 were arrested for public violence.

They were arrested after marchers proceeded to the Govan Mbeki Municipality to hand over their memorandum.

A group of people remained in eMbalenhle and began burning tyres at the Ext 12 four-way stop.

Police warned them to stop, but they continued.

When police tried to stop them, one of the suspects assaulted a police officer with a baseball bat.

The two were immediately arrested and taken to the Evander Magistrate’s Court.
