Burglars steal flat screen televisions

“People should record the serial numbers of their electrical appliances.”

KINROSS – Sgt Matselane Nhlapo from the local police station urged residents to keep a record of their electrical appliances serial numbers especially those of flat screen televisions. This came after a sudden increase in housebreakings during which burglars stole flat screen televisions and remote controls.

She said most of the burglaries happened at night and in the early hours of the morning when people are asleep.

“People should keep the serial numbers safe so that if their stolen property are recovered, they could be traced to the owners,” said Sgt Nhlapo.

When people report burglaries to the police, they should also hand in these serial numbers to be captured onto the police system. Even when stolen property is recovered in Gauteng, the system will immediately show that the appliance was stolen in Kinross.
