Marietjie School receives donation for their feeding scheme

Marietjie school’s feeding scheme is supported by the KFC Add Hope Campaign.

SECUNDA – Marietjie School received R85 000 from KFC as part of their Add Hope Campaign on 2 June.

Ms Santé Barnard, Deputy Headmaster of the School, discussed the school’s feeding scheme. All our pupils receive two meals a day from the school, a sandwich snack in the morning and a well-balanced, healthy cooked meal for lunch. We serve more than six thousand meals a month and can not do this without the help of our supporters and sponsors.”

Marietjie School currently has 320 pupils between the ages of three and 21 years old. They have some form of physical or mental disability.

Mr Geoff Shaw, representative from Davy Food and KFC, emphasised the community’s part in making this donation possible.

“When you give a R2 donation at a KFC, you make a difference. This is where those R2 donations go to, to feeding schemes like this that focus on providing nutritional meals to children in need.”

The Add Hope Campaign supports many different feeding schemes countrywide.

The pupils gave a joyous rendition of “If you’re happy and you know it” and made little red paper craft chickens for the occasion.

As part of the excitement, they were all treated to KFC.

The senior class made woodwork gifts for the representatives from the Add Hope Campaign.

Given Mosambuka, a pupil, did a convincing Colonel Sanders impersonation.
