Motorist dies after accident on Vrede Road

The jaws of life had to be used to remove the BMW driver who was trapped in the vehicle

A motorist died after a truck crashed into his vehicle on the Vrede Road earlier today.

According to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, the truck driver was on his way to Vrede when he allegedly got distracted by a tractor he was trying to overtake.

The truck crashed into the oncoming motorist’s vehicle who was travelling towards Standerton.

“The truck driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned,” Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management said.

The jaws of life had to be used to remove the motorist from his vehicle.
