
BETHAL – Member of the Hawks and the police searched a home in Louis Trichardt Street at about 4am on 23 June after they had received information about firearms at a house.
They were followed by members of SANEB, CI Secunda and Bethal.
A search warrant was executed and the police confiscated balaclavas, gloves, a woman police officer’s bullet proof vest, a fidelity guard’s bullet proof vest and two packets of uncut diamonds in the main bedroom.
They also found five pistols, seven magazines, two police field trousers, as well as two women police shirts in another room.
A 28-year-old man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and precious metals.
He appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on 24 June and is still in custody.
