Councillor’s corruption case transferred to regional court

Police appeal to the public to report any form of corruption.

EVANDER – The case against the ANC councillor, Mr Thamsanqa Buthelezi, and his alleged accomplice was transferred to Evander Regional Court.

They were arrested by the Hawks for the alleged selling of stands in eMbalenhle.

An operation was conducted by the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation and Secunda Crime Intelligence after they had received information from Crime Stop that people were selling stands illegally.

The men appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 26 May and the case was transferred to the regional court.

They will re-appear in court on 28 September.

Both suspects were released on a warning and the police appealed to victims of corruption to report to Sgt Victor Nkoane at 082 303 9983.
