Community warned against recruitment scam
Advert claims mine is looking to recruit new employees in the Secunda area.

HIGHVELD – Isibonelo Colliery said a hoax employment advertisement is doing the rounds on various social media platforms and on posters.
The message purporting to be from the mine, and in some instances Anglo Coal, claims the mine is looking to recruit new employees in the Secunda area.
The mine is not on a recruitment drive as the advertisement claims.
“As and when we need to recruit people for our mine, we advertise these opportunities through the local media, as well as on-line at www.angloamerican.com.
“More importantly, we do not take money when people apply for jobs with us.
“We would therefore like to distance ourselves from individuals who take money from community members under false pretenses,” said a spokesman.
The company has already notified the South African Police Services about the scam and they are currently conducting investigations.
They have also sent notifications in English, Sotho and Zulu warning people about the alleged recruitment scam.
