Foreign national set alight, another shot

Mr Ashnego sustained injuries to his face and left arm

Mr Takatale Ashnego, an Ethiopian national, was set alight on 20 August in a shop in Ext 4 in Rooikoppen.

According to him, a man came to the shop and asked for R500.

“I told him I do not have it and he bought a cigarette and matches,” Mr Ashnego said.

He also said the man threw a flammable substance on him and set him alight.

A a result Mr Ashnego sustained injuries to his face and left arm.

Another incident that shocked the community occurred in Ext 3 on 21 August.

Mr Mossa, a Malawian national, was gunned down in a shop.
